ROVER 75 DIESEL SALOON
Have owned my Rover 75 CDTI Connoisseur SE Saloon from new. By far the quietest, most comfortable car I have owned or been driven in. Fuel economy for this age and weight of car has been impressive. I have only used it for return journeys above 20 or 30 miles which has suited the engine and enabled it to return good consumption figures. It takes a long time to warm up from cold and urban driving figures are poor. However, motorway driving suits it down to the ground. I recently drove from the south (over 400 miles) to Northumberland on holiday. Achieved 65.5 mpg going and 68.9mpg returning. Tyres have not lasted well - two full sets both only lasted around 22,000 miles. I have since had the tracking adjusted rear and front and the signs are that this should improve the longevity of the latest set of tyres. I have so far had no problems with availability of spare parts, though I have only needed to replace a rear parking switch and sensor in the nine years I have owned the car.
If you are able to find a model like mine - immaculate condition, service history well documented and with low mileage, then you could own an amazing car for very little outlay.
