Ferdinand Porsche produced the Beetle and two children; Ferdinand ‘Ferry’ and Louise. His daughter married a man who was set to become the head of Volkswagen, whilst his son became the driving force behind the success of the sports car brand. Since that time the two families have been at each other’s throat with massive amounts of money involved – each attempting to gain control over the other’s business. The story, worthy of a Hollywood mini-series, seems to have done no harm as each company strived for supremacy and better cars being produced year after year.
Whilst Volkswagen owners boast of reliability and practicality, Porsche drivers eulogise about their cars. One comment made by a WeLoveAnyCar.com car reviewer illustrates the feeling of owning a Porsche, “The dream machine. From the moment you turn the ignition key it is an exhilarating experience. Switch off the radio, go through the gears and listen to the music from the engine. Road holding in the corners is awesome, as is the braking, for the car stops on a sixpence. I am never going back.”
WeLoveAnyCar.com has 350 Porsche car reviews and their average rating is 4.3. Porsche won a National Car Award winning the ‘Great To Drive’ category.
