CHEVROLET EPICA DIESEL SALOON
I bought this car as a taxi brand new and have loved every minute of driving it 7 days a week.
Solid, reliable, dependable vehicle, but unfortunately discontinued in the UK, or I'd have another one.
No money spent on the car in 4 years, which for a taxi is incredible, few minor niggles (hand brake cables, ABS sensors) sorted under the 3 year warranty, just tyres and brake pads being the only paid items.
10,000 mile service is a bit of a downside, but mostly oil and filter changes. Timing belt replaced at 50,000 miles because it's a taxi, normally 100,000 miles.
Approaching 100,000 miles and still feels and looks like a new car,
Very roomy, quite comfortable, hard wearing seats and trim, plenty of power, more than you need at times, a little turbo lag at walking pace can be a bit annoying, I tend to just stop and change down to first gear, then its fine.
Fuel consumption is not brilliant, but the performance factor compensates for that.
Boot space looks fantastic, but the rear suspension intrudes, so 4 large suitcases can be a chore, great most times though, has split folding read seats, but not full access, only ski type access through to the cabin.
The fact that this car is no longer available new makes it a great buy secondhand, and would make a very very good cheap family sized car.
Taxi drivers are buying all the good ones...so be quick if you see one !
